Yesterday afternoon after a long day of work and school I decided to go on a bike ride. I have ridden my bike all around Merced, yet yesterday was by far the most beautiful path I have gone on thus far.
I biked down Bear Creek bike path from Snelling to McKee. It was a total of 10 miles, from my house to Bear Creek, down the bike path, and back home. It was super relaxing, a very beautiful and most importantly safe bike ride. I would totally recommend the bike ride to anyone who enjoys biking. Another cool factor about this particular bike path was the uneven road you bike on. One problem I have encountered when biking in the central valley versus the Bay Area (my home), is that Merced is extremely flat. You rarely encounter a hill, incline or decline in the road. Bear Creek is very uneven and you are constantly either going up or down hill.A very different aspect then most roads in Merced.

This past weekend I spent Saturday - Sunday in Santa Cruz camping with my fraternity in the mountains. It was a blast. It is always nice to get away from Merced for a few days after being here for a while. It is good to relax and always gets me pumped to jump back into the swing of things upon returning.
It was a 2.5 hour drive there and back, to me the perfect distance to get away for a couple days. Do you ever need an escape from Merced? If so where do you go and for how long? Have you found that perfect place?
Every class has that 1-3 students (depending on size)m, that are super annoying, ask ridiculous questions and constantly interrupt the wonderful flow of knowledge and learning. Whenever they speak, this is all I hear.
So, mid semester grades just came out yesterday. I hope everyone is doing as well as they expected to do. If not, IT IS NOT TOO LATE! You still have about 10 weeks to catch up in your classes. But what is that going to take?
1. Dedication - you must work hard and continue to work hard.
2. Late Nights - learning a semester worth of stuff in 10 weeks is hard but you can do it.
3. Patience - grades rise slowly, do not be discouraged if it seems slow.
4. Discussion with Professor(s) - by talking to your Professors you can reassure them that you did not do well but want to change that. their added help may be key to your success.
I feel, with those 3 assets and the help of your professor you can lift any grade that may be low. Keep on, carry on, and study hard!
Cheers to a strong second half of the semester!
To all you Greek’s out there. Do not forget that this week is Be A Better Greek Week. There are some really great events for everyone to participate in and I hope to see you all at some of them!
There is insane crazy amounts of wind today. The wind literally almost blew me off my feet. While walking up the hill, BE CAREFUL!
I am not sure if its just me, but did summer ever happen? Sitting here at work and looking out the window I see clear skies, no rain, and plenty of warm sun. I am confused, isn’t it supposed to be winter?
This past weekend was also amazing weather, no rain, no wind, only sunshine. I was wore a tang top both Saturday and Sunday. To add to the mix, I can also feel my allergies staring to bustle inside me. I now need to fulfill my annual visit to the health center, begging for a multitude of pills, eye droppers, and inhalers to battle my INSANE allergies to everything in the Merced spring/summer atmosphere. I am a little concerned for California, especially the central valley, since we are always in dire need of rain water. On the flip side, I love the sun, I hate the rain, and I love to sunbath.
Should we expect a rainy season at all this year? I only had to face the treacherous UC Merced horizontal rain one day so far this year, a new record low for me.
